TO BLOG OR NOT TO BLOG?

Sorry Shakespeare!

To be quite honest--everyone and his brother has a blog. If you look up faith-based blogs, hundreds of titles will pop-up. I read through more than a few and was alternately impressed and horrified. Reading the testimonies of believers around the world and their efforts to reach the lost was very inspiring. But, reading a profanity-laced rant against the 'church today' was not. And don't even get me started on the term 'progressive Christian'. (Ummm...can you really identify yourself as a Christian if you don't believe the Bible is God's Word? Doesn't the name Christian denote someone who follows Christ, who refers to Himself as the Word? This is not the point of this blog, but seriously...)

I have posted blogs in the past under a different title/webpage. Circumstances have changed a bit for me and I find it necessary to try and bring all my stuff into one site--and this is it. As with any new project, it is a bit of a work-in-progress, but, hopefully before too long I will master all the 'fun' technology available to me and we will be off and running.

It has taken me about 10 hours (so far) to make this website and so, in the interest of time and my sanity, I am going to repost a blog from last year, entitled THE WALKING DEAD. It's a bit funny and completely true.

(APRIL 27, 2017--repost)

THE WALKING DEAD

I read the Bible with my 10-year old grandson a few times a week at breakfast, and of course, I do my very best to make it interesting and easy to understand. I put my 20-plus years of entertaining to good use and make it as animated as I can.

Last week I read from Ephesians 2:5--and you He has quickened (made alive), who were dead in trespasses and sins…

And so…in my effervescent, bubbly, attention grabbing, and since it was fairly in the morning, slightly over-caffeinated way, I shouted…

“You were dead in your sins! He has made you alive in Christ. We were dead men walking!” I banged the table for emphasis. “Dead men walking, Preston. Dead men walking!”

His big, round eyes got bigger and rounder.

“You mean we were zombies!” he yelled.

LOLOLOLOL!

All funniness aside—why will people choose to believe in brain-eating zombies, blood-sucking vampires and men-in-black, but find the idea of a Living God unrealistic. People think the government is spying on their every move and listening in on their conversations, but completely shrug off the reality of Satan, God’s enemy.

So without getting too complicated and taking too long (I have vowed to make these blogs shorter!), let me simply say—God’s enemy is MY enemy. And he does not operate alone. One third of all the angels God created were tossed out of heaven with him.

Let me assure you—you are no match for a demonic army. Do not base your conceptions of evil on cartoon characters or Hollywood’s ideas of the devil. These are true, supernatural forces—and no good looking, 30-something is saving the universe from them. The battle is the Lord’s and He is the ONLY one who will win it.

Later on in Ephesians, chapter 6: 12-13, it says: For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Now—that’s how you fight evil. Suit up and stand behind the guy that has already won the war!
