ACCESS

Access is something we all want. Sometimes we want access to something so much we make bad decisions to get it.

Actresses in Hollywood wanted access to parts in movies so badly that they would engage in affairs with the men who ran the studios. Finally, one woman had the guts to speak up, and like an unstoppable tidal wave, reports of bad guys doing bad things hit the nightly news for months.

But, that was just the beginning. Similar reports started to come from other walks of life—politics, sports, businesses, and so on. Our sports heroes, trusted news anchors, TV legends, CEOs…fallen in shame. Women, mostly, but not always, told of the abuse suffered at the hands of men who were the gatekeepers in their chosen profession.

The old adage, “it’s not what you know, but who you know,” played out, badly, in living color every night on our TV. Unfortunately, not everyone with that kind of power and influence can be trusted.

But, there is good news. There is someone who can give you access, free and clear, to the best this life, and the next, can offer. Jesus Christ has paid a great price so that you can share in His riches and glory.

Christ is the ultimate, best Gatekeeper. He is the answer to our desire for acceptance and significance. He does not take anything from you, but instead He gives all that He has to you. He is the Perfect Gift and He checks off all the boxes of what it is we are looking for.

Are you looking for peace?

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7, English Standard Version)

Do you want to be loved and accepted the way you are?

...to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. (Ephesians 1:6, New King James Version)

Do you want to belong? Are you looking for a place where you will be welcomed?

…but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven. (Luke 10:20, King James Version)

Perhaps the doors we are trying to get through are not worth our effort. It could be that the people we think hold the answers to our future, really hold nothing at all. When it comes to knowing which way to go, wouldn’t I be best served by following the One who calls Himself…the Way (John 14:6).

Consider what it is you are chasing after and what it may cost you to get it. Not everything that appears to be good--is godly. Not every prize is worth having.

When you invite Christ into your heart, you are now a ‘joint heir’ with Him (Romans 8:17). It’s a legal term—it means that what He has, you have. His rewards are your rewards. His glory and His riches are now also yours.

If you know Jesus as your Savior, then…

You have access to the great mind of the Creator of the universe.

You have access to the loving and forgiving heart of a God who died for you.

You have access to the love and fellowship of His children here on earth.

You have access to prayer and can move God on behalf of someone else.

You have access to...come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16, King James Version)

And on that great day, when we all stand before Him, you can…enter into the joy of the Lord. (Matthew 25:21)

Thank you Lord, for heavenly access!!
